To War, to Love

In reaction to recent political and global events, here is a poem and a drawing. The meaning of which, I think, is that in dire times we find our honest selves. And we find also, that are willing fight to the death for our freedoms.

I go to sleep unsatisfied tonight. But in my chest

the gods are churning. In my thoughts a storm

gathers. Shadows clouding out

the surface, leaving only the empty void.

The darkness and the truth.

Shapeless like love. Faceless like fury.

There is a purity here

that strengthens me. There are words

in the depths

of our most human moments. There is colour

in the wastelands of our busy lives.

There is music

in our open palms. Our closed eyes.

I go to sleep unsatisfied tonight.

Tomorrow I wake and go

to war,

to love.

Not Enough Words for Love

A short book exploring the nature of love. The central theme being that love exists in everyday actions, not grand gestures; and as such, there are infinite words that mean love. This was a hand-made gift for my cousin’s wedding.
